Ladakh – Land of Lamas (7N8D)

After breakfast drive to explore the Sham Valley today. Start by driving the beautiful road over the peaks. Visit the Magneti Hill and check-out the illusionary Phenomenon of the spot. Further visit the Sangam, the confluence of Sindhu and Zanskar rivers. Visit the hall of Fame, the Leh Palace and possibly the Shanti stupa. Back to hotel by the evening. Dinner and overnight hotel Leh.

Leh Excursion to Shey, Thiksey, Hemis

Today we proceed for Indus Valley monastery tour. We start with a visit to Shey the ancient capital of Ladakh. The monastery here has a huge gold-gilded statue of Buddha Sakyamuni with a large silver lamp burning in front of the statue.

Then we visit Thiksey Gompa an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village. The monastery has a beautiful 30 m high gold-plated statue of Maitreya Buddha, the Buddha of the future. Drive further to visit the famous Hemis Gompa founded in 1630's by Stag-tsang-ras-pa under the royal patronage of Sengge Namgyal.

Hemis is one of the largest and richest gompas of Ladakh.The two-day festival of monastic dance in June-July has raised the reputation of Hemis particularly high. The festival is dedicated to Guru Padmasambhava, popularly known as second Buddha and responsible for spreading Buddhism in the Tibetan world. Later in the evening we drive back to hotel. After Breakfast drive to Nubra Valley via Khardungla (Highest Motorable road in the World, 18,380 ft). Arrive at Disket by Afternoon. Head to Hunder and check-in Camp/Hotel Followed a check-in, you will head out to visit the Hunder white sand dunes and may opt to try a ride over double humped camel backs (self pay). Further enjoy capturing your moments with this beautiful nature around you. Back to camp / hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Today, you’ll travel to the highlight of your Ladakh tour package - Turtuk. Located on the India-Pakistan border, it is a small village on the banks of the Shyok River with unparalleled natural beauty.

The place is culturally, linguistically and historically different from what you’ve seen till now in your Ladakh holiday as it falls under the Gilgit-Baltistan region. Even the landscape is different with dramatic narrow valleys and steep mountains, unlike Central Ladakh and Nubra. Comparatively, situated at a lower altitude than Leh, you’ll see green pastures here that yield fresh produce like apricots and apples.

After reaching, check into your camp and head out to explore the valley. Lately drive back to Hunder Nubra and overnight camp stay.

After Breakfast check-out and drive back towards Pangong Tso. Visit the Disket Monastery and the 102 ft Mietrya Buddha. Followed drive by the beautiful Shyok valley and the Shyok- Durbuk pass. Reaching Pangong, enjoy the most beautiful of all, the Pangong Lake and its multiple shades of blue. Check-in Camp and dinner and overnight.

After morning breakfast, Check-out and you will have a brief time by the beautiful Lake. Followed drive towards Leh via the Changla Pass 17,350 ft., it is the third highest motorable road in the world. Stopping by here for a quick snapshot, you will drive ahead towards Leh. Arriving Leh, Check-in hotel, dinner and overnight in the comforts of your room.
